Goannas are actually quite dangerous. If scared, they will take cover in the nearest tree. If you are standing up, you will look like a tree, and they will run up your body, shredding your skin and tearing you up. Call the RSPCA and notify them that you have a native animal in your backyard. They might send someone around to remove it and take it to a safer place. Goannas love meat. If you’ve got any, chop it up and leave it out for him. Whatever you do, don’t spook the goanna. It will run up your body the first chance it gets.
