what are graduate programs in math finance/financial engineering looking for in summer internships?
In order to impress graduate school admissions directors, get the most prestigious internship you can and have a strong work ethic there. It doesn’t matter how many hours you log, though an internship is like a real job, so the company will probably require you to work certain hours. Do your best at the internship and really take initiative. Ideally, you would leave at the end of the summer with a great recommendation from the company’s highest executive. That recommendation will really help you get into grad school. Sources: It is my opinion.
