What are Gratitude Grams and Lifeskills?
• Gratitude Grams are given in recognition of children’s appropriate behavior in the Lifeskills program. Lifeskills are character traits and attributes we all strive for to demonstrate excellent citizenship, such as: friendship, caring, responsibility, patience, curiosity, initiative, common sense, cooperation, etc. Gratitude Grams are a school-wide reward system, and any teacher or instructional assistant can give your child a Gratitude Gram for any one of the Lifeskills (s)he deems fit. The student who received the Gratitude Gram will need to go home, tell his/her parent what Lifeskill (s)he did to deserve the Gratitude Gram and then, the parent signs the back of the Gratitude Gram and the child signs the front of it. Afterwards, (s)he brings the Gratitude Gram back to school. The Gratitude Gram is placed into a container and at the end of the week; the teacher picks out one of the Gratitude Grams. The winner gets a free ice cream at lunchtime on Friday.
