What are guidelines for smoking marijuana before driving?
Legally, in my state you can be charged with a dui if any means of testing shows any positive metabolite of marijuana or thc., regardless of last consumption. For my own personal safety…. I prefer to wait at least an hour after consuming, and that is with vaping. I have little experience with consuming in food, so…. If I know I will be driving soon, I also tend to consume less, and then wait at least a full hour. After an hour, I have little to no effects left. 2-4 hours is better in my opinion though. The problem is that since few people are actually testing their marijuana, its hard to know how much thc you are actually consuming. For a more scientific estimate, look up what the half life of marijuana is, and what the average thc content for different marijuana strains are – and of course, it would be helpful if you knew intimate details about how it was grown, or had the means to actually test the amount of thc in your marijuana. In most states the use of marijuana is illegal to begin with so any amount is too much. That being said I am going to presume that since you asked the question you are going to dismiss that as “the man getting in the way of your personal fun”, so I will put it like this. When your reaction time is slowed to the point where you can’t stop in time to avoid the car that slams on its breaks in front of you because a child or small animal that dashes out in the street. When you roll through a boulevard stop into oncoming traffic and collide with the minivan of some young mother going home from work and that mean old traffic cop has to explain to three little kids that mommy is never coming home.
