A dental implant is an artificial tooth root (synthetic material) that is surgically anchored into your jaw to hold a replacement tooth or bridge in place. The benefit of using implants is that they don't rely on neighboring teeth for support, they are permanent and stable. Implants are a (good solution to tooth loss because they look and feel like natural teeth. Implant material is made from different types of metallic and bone-like ceramic materials that are compatible with body tissue. There are different types of dental implants: one is placed directly into the jaw bone like natural tooth roots: the second is used when the jaw structure is limited, therefore, a custom-made metal framework fits directly on the existing bone. Talk with your dentist about whether you are an implant candidate. You must be in good health and have the proper bone structure and healthy gums for the implant to stay in place. People who are unable to wear dentures may also be good candidates. If you ...  more

Dental implants are metal anchors placed in the jaw bone underneath the gum tissue to support artificial teeth where natural teeth are missing. Unlike other types of tooth replacements, such as removable dentures or fixed bridges that are cemented to remaining teeth, dental implants are actually placed ("implanted")into the jaw bone under the gum tissue. These implants are usually made from a space-age metal called titanium, which is readily accepted by the body, and artificial teeth that look like natural teeth are then attached to the implants. Accepted by the American Dental Association, dental implants have been used for many years, and hundreds of thousands have been placed. Due to a phenomenon known as "osteointegration" meaning that bone actually attaches itself to the implant, these anchors provide a strong foundation that allows people with missing teeth to chew efficiently and comfortably.  more

Implants are basically artificial tooth roots made of titanium, then placed into the jawbone. Completed implants ultimately replace teeth you have lost. They are also used to create retention and support for full dentures!  more

Dental implants are cylinders of titanium that are implanted into the jaw bone. A small incision is placed in the gum and a hole is drilled into the bone. The implant is then screwed into the bone. As terrible as this may sound, it is actually not a very bad procedure. Since there are no nerve endings in the bone, drilling on it does not cause any discomfort. I have had good feedback from my patients about how easy it was to go through this procedure. The cylinders will sit under the gums for some time undisturbed to allow the bone to grow up to it and solidify its anchorage. Then, we place posts into the cylinders and put crowns on. This recreates the function and cosmetics of the original teeth. Patients love them.  more

Probably the best way to replace missing teeth. In simple terms these are titanium rods or screws that are fixed to the jawbone. An extension is then secured to the implant and a new crown is placed to match the colour and contours of the existing teeth. Not only do they look, feel and function like natural teeth, they restore your chewing ability, allowing you the freedom to enjoy and taste food as there is no plastic denture covering the roof of your mouth. They are strong, long lasting and offer you improved well being and comfort. • Why choose us for your implant care? As a team we have advanced training in implant skills and use implant techniques recognised for their innovation and reliability. We invest in the latest, most advanced equipment and offer you comprehensive planning to ensure the type of implant selected is the best suited to your needs and budget. • Are they long lasting and safe?  more
