What are incident management cameras?
A 30: Incident Management Cameras (IMCs) were installed to assist in responding to reported incidents more effectively and efficiently while modifying traffic signal timing remotely and in real-time. The cameras produce images to monitor and view queue lengths of traffic resulting from unknown conditions at signalized locations, freeway facilities and high volume mid-block settings. There are a total of 49 IMCs throughout the Valley. Of those, 12 are for freeway assistance, and the remaining 37 are for arterial assistance. In early 2007, an additional 13 cameras along the I-15 southern corridor should be operational. Another 30 arterial cameras will be installed in the near future.
