What are Irelands quarantine laws for animals travelling from America?
I understand that there was a reorganisation of the bodies responsible for immigration to the Republic of Ireland in 2005. It’s possible the laws may have changed as well. Your fiance’s employer should take responsibility for ensuring that all the information you both need is available to you, since they are responsible for your relocation. But in any case, your best bet is to start with the Irish Embassy in Washington, since they will be able to give you all the necessary official advice and you’ll know it’s reliable as it’s straight from the horse’s mouth – http://www.embassyofireland.org/home/ind… . Other organisations can mislead as their information may be wrong or out of date. For all immigration and quarantine queries always start with the government of the country to which you are moving.
Go to your vet and talk about getting a pet pass port they will know what to do. We are moving to dublin and our sweet baby doggie has to come too ofcourse so we are getting her shots, and a pet passport to speed up the quarantine process if they see your pet is vaccinated and chipped, and has a pet pass port they will let you go with them. Instead of staying locked in some horrible place. And I would imagine for cats it would be faster.
From what I can see, provided the correct procedures are followed (microchipping, vaccinations etc) then no quarantine is required. http://www.lookintoireland.
