What are life stressors?

0

Life stressors are experiences that make it hard to cope with everyday living, or cause you to be upset, worried, or distressed and are hard to get off your mind. Some examples are: parents separating or getting divorced, splitting up with your boyfriend or girlfriend, failing in school, the death of a family member or friend, alcohol or drug problems, serious illness, histories of abuse or neglect and so on. The Managing Life Stressors series focuses on several different topics every academic year. For each topic we offer workshops, have information handouts, provide information on how and where to access further reliable information on the Internet, suggest books and movies, and offer help through Counselling Services. Some of the programs offered Children of Divorce This program looks at the effects of your parent’s separation or divorce on you now. Even if you were very young when they split, the long-term effects may only be showing up now in your feelings and your relationships.
