At some point while in the United States you will want to go somewhere off-campus on your own. Public transportation is a great way to increase independent mobility off-campus. If a public bus is not accessible, communities are required to offer an accessible alternative. Many cities will have information about accessible public transportation and what is commonly called “para-transport” service that picks people up at their homes in an accessible van or automobile and takes them to their desired destination.
