Charges could be filed Friday after the death of an Indiana toddler who is believed to be the missing 2-year-old Jada Justice. The body was found around mid-afternoon Thursday in a rural area near Otis, Ind., which is located about 6 miles south of Michigan City in LaPorte County. Police announced the developments at a Thursday evening press conference at Hobart City Hall in Hobart, Ind., while family and friends of the girl sobbed in the audience. "We feel very comfortable that we do, in fact, have Jada Justice," Lake County, Ind., Prosecutor Bernard Carter said. However, police won't be certain until a forensic autopsy is performed on the remains. LaPorte County, Ind., Coroner John Sullivan said he transported the body to the Lake County Coroner's office, where the autopsy is scheduled for this morning. A prosecutor says a body found in rural northern Indiana is believed to be that of a 2-year-old Portage girl who vanished more than a week ago. Lake County Prosecutor Bernard Carter said he's quite certain that the body found Thursday afternoon in rural LaPorte County near the town of Otis, Ind., is that of Jada Justice. But he said a formal identification still needs to be done. An autopsy is scheduled to be performed Friday on the body. Justice was apparently abducted from a car June 16 while her 18-year-old cousin who was baby sitting her went into a convenience store in Gary. Carter said two people are in custody in connection with the toddler's June 16 disappearance. He said that charges are expected to filed Friday in the case.
