What are non-tariff barriers (NTBs) and why does PAAPAM insist on using NTBs to protect the APMs industry?
A22: Non-tariff barriers are rules and regulations, which govern the quality, testing, standards, parameters, etc of products allowed into the country. These measures prohibit dumping and disallow sub-standard products from entering the country. PAAPAM believes NTBs can go a long way in supporting and protecting the local industry, which is the need of the hour, if the Government wants to achieve the objectives laid down in AIDP.
