What are North Carolina’s electric utilities planning?
North Carolina has two large investor-owned electric utilities, Duke Power and Progress Energy. Parts of the state are served by a third investor –owned utility, Dominion Power, and others by electric cooperatives or municipal electric corporations. The investor-owned utilities and the cooperatives are required to submit annual plans to the North Carolina Utilities Commission explaining how they plan to meet the state’s demand for electricity.
