What are other ways to protect yearling bucks?
There are other ways to reduce hunting pressure to protect more bucks including yearlings. However, these methods would require a loss of opportunity to hunters which is usually not considered desirable by hunters. Examples are: Shortening the hunting season- hunters do not want less opportunity to hunt, “Earn-a-buck”- may result in more hunters leaving the tradition as most hunter wish to hunt bucks, and a buck quota where hunters would have to draw a tag before being able to hunt.
