What are oysters?
Oysters are bivalve mollusks found in many oceans of the world. Humans view them as an economically valuable animal because they can provide a source of food and pearls, distinctive lustrous objects used in jewelry and ornaments in many cultures. In addition, oysters appear to be effective scrubbers of polluted water, as indicated in several experiments in the United States in 2006. Many other animals are also fond of oysters, thanks to their flavorful, protein rich flesh.
