What are Petes views on economic development and how do they disagree with those of Governor Kulongoski?

I support a state role in helping Oregon’s economy. I think we should support small and even micro businesses as a strategy and not subsidize multi-state or multi-national corporations. We need to invest in jobs that can’t be taken away from us: I think developing wind and solar energy are great ways to make an economic investment that will be hard pressed to be taken away from us. In Lane County, we have first-hand experience of giving tax reductions to a business (Sony Corporation) only to have it shut down without notice and leave a community high and dry. I would not give state tax benefits to a Confined Animal Feeding Operation (a giant manure producing facility, the first ever in Oregon), as Governor Kulongoski did.
