What are pre-season and post-season conditioning programs? Is it mandatory for my student-athlete to participate in these programs?

Pre-season and post-season conditioning classes are run by coaches to prepare for an upcoming season. To improve skills, strength, speed and conditioning requires an ongoing workout program. THHS Athletics encourages student-athletes to participate in multiple sports during the 3 seasons of high school sport (Fall, Winter, Spring). However, student-athletes who choose to concentrate on a single sport are expected to participate in the pre and post season conditioning programs. CIF SS rules dictate that skill work using specific sport equipment (balls, goals, etc.) may only be used during the regularly scheduled Athletic period (usually 7th period). All other time after the Athletic period must be used for conditioning only (speed development, strength, conditioning). This time may be after school hours.
