in high school physics an experiment is carried out by passing light through two small slits in a piece of card. when the two rays of light are made to coincide when out of phase the light instead of getting brighter will disapear altogether…two rays of light make no light. This is because of the wave form, when the peak of one wave is added to the trough of the other wave the net result is 0.
