What are Smile Analysis and Smile Design?
In a smile analysis, we look at all the factors that compose a smile: the shape of a smile, the size, the smile line, and the position of your teeth, lips, and gums when you smile. We listen to what you want to accomplish and any concerns you may have. Once we have this information, we can provide a custom smile design. Using our digital imaging system, Dr. Dandois will generate an image of your new smile, review the smile design results with you, and discuss the next steps to make it happen.
Smile analysis and design are actually artistic and technical processes that we go through to create a smile that is uniquely and beautifully yours. First, we listen carefully to you so that we understand your concerns about your current smile and your desires for a new one. We take digital photographs of your face and your smile, take x-rays of your entire mouth, and work up wax models to three-dimensionally recreate your current bite and smile. We analyze the proportions of your face to make sure that your new teeth are the perfect size, shape and dimensions to complement it. Finally, we build a model of your new smile so that you can actually see what you will look like. You’ll be amazed—and very excited—when you see the smile of your dreams come to life!

You can then “try on” your new smile before we begin any cosmetic work. Once you are satisfied with your new appearance, we will create a customized treatment plan that best meets that goal.
Basically, these are the things making the difference between going to a regular dentist or to a cosmetic expert. The cosmetic expert takes into account a number of very subtle things affecting the look of your smile, such as the proportion of one tooth to another, a gummy vs. hidden-gum smile, a long or round face, and a dark or light complexion. We analyze your existing smile and take into account your natural features to help us design your new smile.
