What are some common superstitions & their beliefs?
Haha, my mom is big on superstitions. Well, here are the obvious ones: * Black Cat – Were rumored to be either a witch’s spy, a witch in disguise, or a demon in disguise. * Walking Under a Ladder – Supposed to represent something about the Holy Trinity. Walking under a ladder puts you in the devil’s care. *Breaking a Mirror – Seven years of bad luck will follow you. If a random mirror breaks in the house without being provoked, someone will die soon. * Three-legged Dog – Because the dog most likely lost the leg in an accident, it is supposed to bring bad luck. * Opening an Umbrella Inside a House – Since the original purpose of an umbrella was that it was supposed to shade you from the sun, opening it in a place where there is no sun is bad luck.
