What are some criticisms of phenomenological sociology?

One criticism from a symbolic interactionist perspective would be that different individuals interpret words and symbols differently. In phenomenological research, researchers analyze their data by listening to their experience and make sense of it. A symbolic interactionist would say that there are problems with this approach as people interpret different symbols and/or words differently so it is difficult to determine if that is actually what the participant was intending to mean. As well from a general criticism, there is generally no quantitative data involved in phenomenological sociology as it based around phenomenons. Some criticisms (especially of social science) is that it is not academically proved because there are no numbers proving it. Hope this helps.
