What are some cultural diversity Issues in Iran?
Iran is an Islamic Revolutionary Republic, where the Government is led by clerics pledged to uphold religious principles as defined by the Qu’ran over more more modern secular ideas, or those governed by other religions such as Christianity. The people in Iran are not universally strict Shi’ite Muslim, and even within the Muslims there is a range of how far they are prepared to take their religion, and their tolerance of religious law where it conflicts with their own sense of justice. Issues over the hijab, or the requirement to be modestly covered at all times, is a thorn in the side of many modern Iranian women, who wish to be as glamorous and fashionable as Hollywood icons. I remember a BBC reporter commenting once that there are almost as many face lifts done in Tehran as there are in Los Angeles.
