Sweet cream cheese wontons are super easy to create in less than 30 minutes. All you need is an 8 ounce package of cream cheese, 1/2 cup of sugar, one egg, a teaspoon of lemon juice, wonton wrappers, and peanut oil for frying. You want to beat your cream cheese with the egg, then slowly add the sugar and lemon juice and beat until completely blended. Place a teaspoon of this filling in one wonton wrapper and brush the outer edges of the wonton wrapper with a prepared egg wash or water so the dough sticks to itself, then pinch the edges together around the filling to make a triangle or a dumpling shape. Make sure you seal the wonton around the filling completely so it doesn’t leak out and ruin the finished result. Fill all your wrappers while heating your oil. Once your oil as been heated over medium-high heat, very carefully drop your wontons in the oil and brown them on each side until golden. You can sprinkle powdered sugar over the top to finish them off if you like, or just leave them bare and eat them up.

A friend I work with brought in an Asian lunch for us one time and the dessert was an Asian jello. I found this recipe that seems like its close to what he served us: Mizu-Yokan Japanese Jello Ingredients – 1 ¼ cups water 1 cup brown sugar 1 stick agar-agar 1 ½ cups Anko (Japanese red bean paste) 1 whole ripe plum depitted Preparation: Soak the agar-agar in water for an hour, then squeeze the water out and tear it into small pieces. Put the agar-agar in the 1 ¼ cups of water in a deep pot. Heat it on low heat until the agar-agar dissolves. Add the sugar and stir then add the anko. Stir all the time and simmer until it is thick. Pour the mixture into a flat container and let it cool until it starts set while still semi solid place the pitted plum into the middle of the dessert and continue to let set till solid. Cut the yokan into blocks to serve.
