What are some employment/temp agencies that help ex-felons?
State unemployment agencies offer help but oftentimes they are for VERY LOW paying wages & very menial jobs – It’s a problem especially when you have aquired many valuable skills but you cannot get a job that pays you what you deserve because of your past mistake(s). Siting my own experiences, I have been given some terrific offers only to have them recinded once the part about a background check comes into play…It does not matter that I am upfront and honest – it does not matter that I am a participant in the State Federal Bonding program which offers insurance for at risk employees like myself to employers free of charge for six months…People cannot look beyond that fact that people do make mistakes…Still I struggle to move forward, to continue to try and pray for an angel out there who doesn’t care I made mistakes in the past but recognizes where my heart and head is now – that I AM of great value, I am a dedicated and hard worker who would make a significant contribution to t
After being in the workforce for the past 14yrs, I made a mistake and now have a felony on my record. I will be placed on house-arrest soon, one of the stipulations is to maintain a job.(HA-HA!!) Since finding one has been so hard, I returned to school to get my Bachelor’s Degree. I have really been considering starting a placement agency for felons. It was just an idea, until reading this post. I want to thank each of you because of your post, I now see how great the need is for such a service. Many companies offer ex-felons jobs, but what about those of us that are on probation, house-arrest, or records are not 7 years or more old. We all deserve to make a decent living, as we have families and children like the rest of society.
I have been reading various comments about ex-felons and offeners. I don’t understand how people can move forward in their lives, if the system continues to block out individuals. In my opinion, this is one of the reason there are repeat offeners. I have started to write our congress, governer, sentors and even the president, because of my dissapointmemt with society and my personal interes. My son has been in prison for 12 years and he is looking forward in coming out in 2 more years, but to what? I was always told if you don’t like something, change it! I think if enought people band together and let our socity know this is creating another class of people, maybe just maybe someone will care enough to answer the call. Until then, keep pushing forward, don’t give up because all things are possible. Don’t forget to pray, God answers prayer.
