What are some examples of creative solutions to great problems?

Actually creative solutions almost always are bad solutions. Most of what gets done in the world is through clear understanding the the problem and constitute careful regular methods to try and solve the problem Our consumer society is a bit strange. We value ‘creativity’ as some kind of magic solution to problems, and yet we normally use science the most ‘dull’ and structured means of finding solutions ever created. Often we find ourselves having to look at ancient wisdom and mysticism to find the kind of creative stories we like, for example this myth Trey told about Alexander the Great. But the amazing things we have done like send men to the moon, build the Hubble Space Station, develop effective treatment for HIV, implement a global Internet, etch were done by determined, hard working, clearly tasked people with a bit of ‘creative genius’ added more for flavor than as the essential part.
