For indoors, get Lucky Bamboo. This is the bamboo stalks that just grow in a pot of water and gravel. You just top off the water in the gravel each day and change it out every weeks or so. Lucky Bamboo gets its name from the Chinese, who believe that these plants bring you good fortune. Another great indoor plant is pothos. It’s kind of a fleshy plant (not woody), but it grows kind of like an ivy. These are extremely easy to propagate from cuttings and they’re almost impossible to kill. You just cut off a 1-foot or so cutting from an existing plant, fill an empty (and clean) wine or some other kind of bottle with water, and stick the stem of the cutting into the water. It will eventually grow roots in the water and start vining out all over the place. Just keep the water level near the top of the bottle and replace it once a month or so.
