What are some important themes in Romeo and Juliet and explain?
Love is naturally the plays most dominant and important theme. it focuses on the intense passion between Romeo and Juliette. I am not sure what you could call this but Romeo and Juliette are driven to defy their entire social world. Perhaps it could be betrayal against the family and friends. Perhaps mention how their love is described in terms of religion. To make it simple, the themes are: -love -violence -death -religion -family -the inevitability of fate (Romeo and Juliet believe themselves controlled by fate (the stars). Romeo says “then i defy you, stars”. This is the best i can think of. I am only in year 8 and have not studied it but only read it. i hope it makes sense.
