This can have you taking care of patients within a few months some of them will be children. Go visit your local volunteer fire and rescue department. Most of them are usually understaffed. They usually pay for training to become an EMT. Classes are usually held in the county you live in and are once or twice per week for 3 months. After being certified you will volunteer to work one night every 5 to 7 days at the volunteer fire department. You will be with experienced EMT's manning the ambulance. From there you can get a job in the ER or your local hospital. If you are under 18 most departments have a junior program where you will become an EMT but have limited duty until age 18.
