I know what you mean. I have come so close to falling for scams many times. I don’t live in Long Island or NYC so I can’t recommend any agencies, however, all you need to do is do a google search and you will get lots of results. But remember not to fall for any scams. A legit agency will not have any “submission” forms on their website, nor will they contact you out of the blue. A legit acting agency will have you send your resume and headshot to them either by email or mail. If they are interested in you, they will contact you. If they choose to represent you, they will never ask for any kind of money up front or sell classes. Legit agencies only take 10-20 % comission off of every job you are hired for. You may however, have to pay for your own professional headshots and comp cards, but they shouldn’t be over priced, and you shouldn’t have to pay the agency for that, but rather the photographer him/her self.
