What are some major events that happened while Queen Elizabeth was the queen of England?
It is a very long list of the major events that took place during the 45 years (1558-1603)that Elizabeth was queen. The most famous is probably the Exploration of the New World, followed by the Black Plague. There was the War with Spain, which resulted in the destruction of the entire Spanish Armada by the English, under the command of Lord Howard of Effingham, with Sir Francis Drake as Vice Admiral, with a lot of help from the weather and the shipworm. Shakespeare started writing plays for the amusement of the Queen. The English added to the plundering of the New World by the European Invaders with the formation of colonies and the East India Company.
