What are some of the accomplishments of the EZ?
Since August 1996, as a result of Title XX funds, the Empowerment Zone has posted the following results: · Over 236,276 families, youth and individuals have been served · 723 low to moderate income single and multi-family housing units and community developments projects are in process or completed. · 38 business start-ups · 11 business expansions · 225 businesses have been retained · $1.4 billion has been invested and/or leveraged in financing EZ businesses and other community economic development projects in the EZ. · 13,000 new jobs have been created. · 61% of EZ businesses are aware of tax incentives and 19% have taken advantage of them.
