What are some of the diseases mosquitoes potentially carry?
Although not all mosquitoes carry potentially deadly diseases, they are known to transmit several lethal diseases. These include West Nile virus, malaria, encephalitis, dengue and yellow fever. It is important to understand that only the female mosquitoes actually bit. The problem with bug zappers and other mechanical devices that claim to rid an area of insects is that only a small portion of the captured bugs are female. So the most dangerous mosquitoes with the greatest potential for spreading disease are the least likely to eliminated.
