What are some of the treasures of Newstead House?
Firstly the residence itself; today a quintessential Australian homestead more often found west of the Great Diving Range where once it was but a simple colonial cottage with a portion of that building on public display. Secondly, paintings and chattels linked to the families that lived and worked in the residence and then, there are those items with a story to tell such as the model of HMS Beagle, the wardrobe from Cambridge House, the chair from the Queensland Government Yacht Lucinda and the Doulton self-pouring teapot.
