What are some practical gift ideas for senior citizens?
If the senior citizen you are considering is like most, s/he is having a bit of trouble making ends meet. Buy something needed, but with class. Examples could include a certificate for payment on a bill, like electricity or oil, that is vital to their survival. A good, warm sweater that actually looks half-decent is almost always going to be welcome — unless the senior in question lives in a very warm climate. If you don’t like that, and haven’t a lot of cash yourself, give them a days’ free lawn mowing or yard work, or a day’s free housecleaning. As a senior myself, I can tell you that the old knees aren’t what they used to be, and both jobs are pretty tiring. Another useful thing would be to give them a day’s driving to places they have to go to, but have trouble getting to, like the doctor’s, the pharmacist, their granddaughter’s wedding.
