Try to let somebody construct a small underground tornado shelter away from your house (usually between the back of the house and the garage), like you see in the first part of “Twister”. 2. If you don’t have this tornado shelter, try to create a “safe room” in the basement where there will be concrete all around, a steel door that will be good enough to survive flying debris from an EF3 or even an EF4 tornado, and absolutely no windows in that safe room at all!!!! 1/3 of tornado injuries come from shards of glass going as fast as 300 mph from windows when they shatter. 3. If you have no basement, go to a bathroom, dive into the tub, and put layers of heavy blankets that will completely cover you. The tub itself will survive the flying debris and even the destruction of a tornado in most cases….the blankets can help you survive a possible crush collapse and flying debris. Other good things to have…. At least 2 flashlights, 3 days worth of non-perishable food
