I know it lasted about 10 years, it was bad, some people wore feed sacks for clothes and a lot of hand-me-downs and repaired shoes to cover the holes, I know they stood in lines for food (couldn’t get decent food), some people committed suicide, people lived on the streets (a lot didn’t have cars as there was still some horse and buggies back then and railway and railroad cars wherein hobos rode from town to town searching for work). People couldn’t get the money they saved out of the banks. And a lot of kids got put into orphanages because their parent or parents couldn’t afford to feed them, some kids never returned to their parents. People were assigned jobs to do by the government.
