They have numerous advantages over awnings, which typically attach to buildings above doors and windows. Cable-tensioned shade structures usually stand-a-lone, although they can attach to sufficiently-robust structures. These HDPE fabric structures can be considerably larger than awnings or traditional canopies, whose size is constrained by their limitations to withstand strong wind. Why? The tensioning cables enable woven fabrics to extend considerably-greater distances between columns. Traditional canopies typically have aluminum frames, whereas our shade fabric structures always have structural steel. Finally, awnings and conventional canopies typically use impermeable shade fabrics (e.g. Sunbrella or PVC-coated fabric) that trap hot air inside the structure..  more
