What are the benefits and risks of Parkour?
Parkour is highly beneficial both physically and mentally. Not only is the practice of Parkour itself good for you, (as is any physical activity) but additionally, parkour encourages you to begin stregth and endurance training to improve your performance when applying parkour in everyday situations. Additionally, traceurs often change their eating habits to keep their body in top-shape as to both improve performance and to meet the physical demands of parkour. The risks of parkour are better refered to as “the physical demands of parkour.” If I were to talk about meeting the physical demands of parkour, I’d be refering to the physical movements, abilities and strength which must be improved to both move through the environment efficiently, and to stand up to the impacts and shocks sent into the body when jumping and landing both horizontally and vertically. Again, the best part about parkour is that these risks are easily avoided through conditioning and safe practice of the discipline
