What are the benefits to homeschooling versus public schooling and vice versa?
I commend you for taking the time to carefully consider this question. I was in public school through the sixth grade, then I was home schooled until I ‘graduated’ and went to college. In those days and in our area there was not a very well established support system for home schoolers and we lived in a rural setting without many neighbors. I’m very thankful I was in public school the first few years simply because I basically didn’t have any friends after that. I was very well prepared for life and college in all aspects except for socialization. In fact, I scored very high on placement tests and was awarded scholarships and admitted into the honors program at both colleges I attended. In my area home schooling is now much more prevalent, and there is a much better support network for both the parents and children. Many families I know of are involved in Home School Coop programs in which parents with a particular expertise or ability teach a class in that subject for all the home-sch
