What are the BEST attractions in Washington, D.C.?
My kids enjoy all of the monuments and a lot of the museums. You can get tickets in advance to go up in the Washington Monument at the National Park Service web site. There is a small transaction fee, I think $1.50, but it is well worth it. You can see the whole city from up there. Kids always like the Air and Space Museum and the Natural History Museum. To my surprise, my kids liked the sculpture garden by the Natural History Museum and the Botanical Garden up by the Capital Building. The National Aquarium and Zoo are good too. The aquarium charges a small fee, but I believe the zoo is still free. My kids love feeding the ducks and squirrels, having a picnic on the mall lawn and getting ice cream from the street vendors. The Metro is a great way to get around since things are spread out. Bikes are also a good idea if you plan to drive and park down town or you can rent them.
