I think that a lot of options and brands can fit this bill. I liked the variant of the Yamaha JR2 and Taylor Baby Taylor (BT2) which I read about in one of articles on killerguitarrigs blog.
But I assure you that there are many good offers. Please note that the first guitar should not be very expensive. During training, it will wear out considerably or your son/daughter may just not like it. So it’s not worth paying a few thousand dollars for a brand

Take a look at my acoustic guitar reviews of top picks. Original S6 Seagull, Cost ~$400 Worth the money. While costing a little more than other beginner guitars, this one is by far the best in terms of sound, craftsmanship, and playability. In fact, the sound of this Canadian-made guitar is as good as many higher-priced guitars. I find most accoustic guitars in the low-price-ranges made in China, Korea, and Indonesia simply uninspiring. This does not make them bad, but they do not stand out like this Seagull. In my opinion, this is the BEST BEGINNER ACOUSTIC GUITAR!
