What are the best things to look for in a animal vet?
One thing I look at is the attitude in the waiting area! Something important for us is the vet’s interests and speciality. We have active hunting dogs, and the canine equivalent of “sports injuries” are something that we know very well can happen. So when we relocate, we’re going to be asking questions about the physical issues related to hunting, emergency services, after hours treatment, and how much the vet understands about issues that could be related to our hunting with the dogs. Our current vet hunts himself, and when he says “If she were MY dog, I’d do this,” we know he knows what our issues and concerns are. You may have similar concerns for your own animals.
