What are the biggest opportunities you see for women just embarking on their careers in business?
I think we need to focus on the fact that the opportunities for women are most likely the same as for men. That wasn’t always true but today, I believe the walls are mostly down. Strong performance, dedication, strategic focus and solid leadership skills are the entry requirements and those aren’t gender-based. What would you say are the main challenges that a woman manager faces? Again, I believe it’s better to focus on the challenges faced by any manager. I tend not to look for issues surrounding gender in everyday managing because it doesn’t help to focus on that. Managerial challenges for me tend to be keeping focus on the larger strategic issues while day to day fire-fighting wants to take up all the time and attention.
