What are the career opportunities for therapeutic radiographers?
Therapeutic radiographers use radiation to give radiotherapy treatment to patients with cancer. There is now a huge demand for therapeutic radiographers as there are currently not enough practitioners to fill the vacancies within the NHS. It is essential that there are enough therapeutic radiographers to help provide essential services to cancer patients. Radiotherapy is a core component of modern cancer therapy and is one of the most rapidly changing treatment modalities. It is widely accepted that radiotherapy will remain an essential component of cancer treatment for many years to come and that the demand for radiotherapy will continue to rise (Scottish Executive 2004).
