What Are the Causes of Death From Bile Duct Cancer?
Bile duct cancer is a very serious cancer that develops within the thin tube–known as the bile duct–that extends from the liver to the small intestine. There are several types of cancer that can develop in the bile duct. Bile duct cancer is relatively rare, with only about 2,000 to 3,000 people in the United States developing it each year. The chances of survival for patients with bile duct cancer depend greatly on the location of the tumor and how advanced the cancer has become when a diagnosis is made.
