There are several factors that can affect a woman’s libido. The causes can be internal and/or external. Normal low libido and changes in libido are minor and temporary. These can be caused from hormonal fluctuations due to pregnancy, menstruation cycles, menopause, lack of sleep, weight changes, stress, oral contraceptives, anxiety, depression, strenuous exercise, etc. Abnormal low libido or even loss of libido (sexual drive and satisfaction) can be caused from a variety of factors. Including; illness, medications, sexual abuse, surgery, mental disorders, etc. Many of these factors are due to external circumstances, but also cause hormonal fluctuations and imbalances that results in low libido. But, sexual trauma for example, affects the mind and emotions resulting in loss of libido due to psychological factors. Is female low libido a physiological or a psychological problem?
