What Are the Causes of Trigger Finger?
Trigger finger, or stenosing tenosynovitis, is the term used to describe a condition where a finger or thumb temporarily or permanently locks in a bent position. Trigger finger may begin as a general soreness in the affected finger. Additional symptoms, such as painful clicking or popping sounds, may occur as the finger is moved. Eventually the finger may become stiff and begin to lock. The first step in treatment is to identify the underlying cause of trigger finger.
