What are the characteristics of the ideal shoe?

0

There is an appropriate shoe for each stage of your childs development. Only when your child starts walking should he or she be allowed to wear shoes. The shoe should have no stiffeners or reinforcements at the toe. The shoe should be made of very soft leather and the sole should not be hard and made of the same leather as the upper. Shoes of this kind protect your childs foot stimulating sensitivity and ensuring full freedom of movement. Once your child has learnt to walk (between the age of 2 and 3), he or she can start wearing more grown up shoes but with a supple sole that can be bent to least 90 at the level of the metatarsal joints. The shoe should have sturdy stiffeners at the sides and back of the heel which should reach only as far as the sub-astragalar region. The shoe toe should be high in order to protect the foot without preventing toe movement.
