Any form of uncontrolled hyperthyroidism can complicate pregnancies, the most common form is Graves’ disease. Pregnancies complicated by uncontrolled hyperthyroidism may result in higher incidences of: spontaneous abortion (miscarriage), preterm labor, low birth-weight babies and stillbirths.
