What are the criteria for selection of the Canadian team? Who establishes selection criteria for athlete participation?

The Canadian Paralympic Committee’s general selection policy states that all athletes attending the Games must demonstrate, in the qualification period, the ability to finish either in the top half of the competitive field for their event (if less than 32 competitors), or in the top 16 (if more than 32 competitors). Every Paralympic sport signs a selection agreement with the CPC detailing the eligible qualification events and the level of performance required to meet the CPC standard. CPC works closely with all member National Sport Organizations (NSO) in order to finalize these selection agreements at least two competitive seasons prior to the Paralympic Games, to ensure all Canadian athletes are aware of the requirements to qualify for the Canadian Paralympic Team.
