God, where to start! Erm, maybe talk about the Rose Review into reading, it has recently challenged the way we used to teach phonics and reading in school. A big one is the new scheme ‘Every Child Matters’ (which you can download) which states that every child has the right to education regardless of colour, race, special needs etc. The Special Educational Needs handbook has also recently been brought out as a guidance paper to help us to support children with needs more effectively. School Dinners is another major issue, making sure that children are eating healthily. From a teachers point of view, more people are going into teaching now as it seen as a ‘job for life’, especially what with the recession, and new government guidelines are saying that all teachers should be trained to masters level (eek!) These are just some of the topics i’ve looked at whilst studying. Hope i’ve helped!

Too many kids who can’t read or write at end of primary education which is ridiculous and partly parents fault too . I learned to read before I went to school from my parents and other relatives who would sit with me whilst we read books Lack of discipline in class and lots of kids come to school with no sense of right or wrong and again this is down to poor parenting .
